Our Winter Garden veterinarian is proud to offer pet dental care services, including routine dental exams and cleanings, to help protect your pet's oral and dental health. If it's been more than a year since your pet's last dental check-up, now is a good time to schedule one with our team at Winter Garden Animal Hospital. We have been serving the areas of Winter Garden, Ocoee, and Apopka since we first opened our doors in 1947.

The Importance of Dental Care for Your Pet

Just as routine dental check-ups and cleanings are important to your oral health, they're also vital to protecting your pet's oral and overall health. Over time, plaque and another build-up from food can make its way under your pet's gumline; this can lead not only to tooth decay but to gum disease as well. Tooth decay can be very painful for your pet and may make it difficult for him or her to eat solid foods. And of course, extreme decay can even lead to a painful infection known as an abscess.

Gum disease is also a common concern for pets who don't receive regular dental care. Gum disease can lead to inflamed, red gums that bleed easily. Over time, pets with gum disease are also more prone to losing their teeth permanently. This disease can also be quite painful, especially as infections form below the gum line and lead to infected pockets underneath the surface of the gums. Routine dental care, both in our office and at home, can help protect your pet from gum disease.
