Have you recently brought a new pet into your home? Whether your dog has had puppies or your cat has had kittens, or you have brought a new pet home from somewhere else, it’s crucial to arrange for vaccinations. Otherwise, your animal could become needlessly ill. Your Winter Garden veterinarian has been providing vaccination services to local pets for many years and will be happy to take care of your animal companions too.
At Winter Garden Animal Hospital, the health and well-being of pets are our top priority. We encourage pet owners from Ocoee, Windermere, and the Winter Garden area and beyond to make sure that their beloved animals are properly vaccinated. Getting the proper shots helps to ensure that your cats and dogs will be as healthy and happy as possible.
Felines need to get vaccinated for rabies. You may have thought only dog owners need to worry about rabies, but cats can get it too. Of course, humans are susceptible to getting rabies as well, which is why we must guard against it.
Cats must also be vaccinated with a combination shot that inoculates your pet against calicivirus, feline viral rhinotracheitis, and panleukopenia. Optional vaccinations that your veterinarian may recommend for cats include feline leukemia, feline immunodeficiency virus, feline infectious peritonitis, and bordetella.
Canines must get a rabies shot (the importance of this vaccination can be understood when you consider that most states in the U.S. require dogs to get rabies shots to prevent the spread of this deadly disease.) One other mandatory vaccination for dogs is called a distemper shot. This is a multiple-part vaccine that protects your dog against distemper, parvovirus, parainfluenza and hepatitis.
The vet may suggest optional vaccines for your dog, depending on the circumstances, including coronavirus, Lyme disease, leptospirosis, and bordetella.
We are proud to offer veterinarian services for pets in Ocoee, Windermere and the greater Winter Garden area and beyond. For details about pet vaccinations or to make an appointment, contact the team at Winter Garden Animal Hospital today.
